"...held in the balance between heaven and hell..."
When you took time out to feature other great Substack writers, we missed your stories! It’s great to read your adventures and reflections again….
Thank you, Andrea. As you know, I’m full of stories 😉
LoL. So funny. I have a similar memory of breaking one of my mother's prized vases. Too bad I didn't have your masking tape skills!
What a memory you have! Loving this story 😍
Thanks Sarah! You don’t know what is going to be a core memory until years later. Glad you’re liking it.
Masking tape Mary! 😆. I really needed to laugh this morning, Steve. Thank you for this piece.
Hahaha! I should have used that moniker for the title 🤣 Glad you’re enjoying the story.
Whew! This was riveting to read, I was so worried about Mary and those boys! Haha but now there’s more to come…
Thanks for being here, MaryAnn. And the story continues…
Reminded me of stories of how my dad and uncle made balls out of tightly wound balls of electrical tape from mines in WV.
That’s a great memory Stan! When I worked as an electrical apprentice at an oil refinery, we did the same thing with electrical tape!
My grandfather was a miner that fixed electrical water pumps in the 40’sand 50’s, probably the same kind of tape.
Most likely. I’m sure that if my brother and I had access to electrical tape, our balls would have lasted longer but we may have caused more damage, too 😉
Well to be completely transparent, there was a dog involved returning balls from the outfield.
Wow! That’s the winner right there anytime a dog’s involved 👍
Thank you so much for the restack Paul! So appreciate this.
Oh man, you got me again! This was too good! Jesus was definitely watching over you when she didn’t fall 🤭
